Hi, I've been lurking around this site since I bought my 1600, 2010 Tbird a couple of months ago and decided to do a few simple mods mainly to eliminate the farting, popping that I get on deceleration. I had short Tors fitted by the dealer that I bought the bike from as I thought the sound was a little tame. The sound is great now except on decel. I asked the dealer if it needed remapping due to the Tors and was told since they were Triumph pipes it wasn't necessary. It kind of contradicts what I've read on here. What I intend doing is to fit a high flow air filter, block off the SAI. and install the " Thunderbird 1600 Aftermarket exhaust without secondary air injection, all markets except Japan" tune. Could someone please confirm for me that this will start me on the way of accomplishing what I want. Is there another tune that might be more suitable? Any help will be much appreciated.

1st, find a new dealer. There is a specific tune for tors and that should have been loaded with the pipes. Any dealer that doesn't know that is pathetic at best. Second, you do NOT want to use the tune that is for bikes w/o SAI. Your ECU may throw an engine code light because it expects SAI and the tune isn't a SAI tune. Use the tune that FOR SAI because your bike has it and may expect to see it even if unchecked. So the simple and sure way to go is just block it off physically and load the proper tune.

So you want to load the 20306 tune and block SAI, which takes all of 2 seconds to do. I just pulled the hose off the rear side of the solenoid and put a doubled up piece of plastic bag over the nipple then shoved the hose back on over it. relieved about 80% of popping. the tune alone may even do that tho. But both should stop it nearly or completely.

Welcome to the asylum Kurt, if you are going to stick with the short tors and washable filter you will not get rid of the popping, even with the factory tors tune. I like the popping so have not looked at ways of getting rid of it but I think the only way is to fit the standard pipes or get a custom tune.
What part of the country do you live?

Thanks guys for the advice, it was much appreciated if not a little conflicting. I,ll go ahead and install the tune Daz recommended and report back after the weekend. Just really looking to reduce the decel popping because coming down the hill into the village not only the whole village knows I,m going home but the whole bloody valley does as well ! But the growl going up the hill is awesome. I live in Wales by the way.

I'm running the 20306 tune with the long TORS and high-flow air filter and I get the popping on decel with this set up but I like this also. I'm sure some one will know how to " tweak " the tune to keep this to a minimum.

I've had some success with the PCV by adding some fuel to the zero throttle tables from 1500rpm upwards. Pops much less frequently, but when it does it is a deeper tone and just one or two, not like a machine gun. Still experimenting.

Experience is something you get just after you needed it

Make that 2000 rpm and above, below that could cause idle issues.
